Most injection-site erythema/reactions are resolved by simple continuing treatment, and less than 12% of cases require corticosteroids and/or antihistamine. A correct injection technique, such as syringe aspiration, and injection-site rotation, can help prevent injection-site reaction. REFERENCES

Increased Cytotoxicity of Cisplatin in SK-MEL 28 Melanoma Cells upon Down-Regulation of Melanoma Inhibitor of Apoptosis Protein

Background: Malignant melanoma is a highly metastatic cutaneous cancer and typically refractory to chemotherapy. Deregulated apoptosis has been identified as a major cause of cancer drug resistance, and upregulated expression of the inhibitor of apoptosis protein melanom, an inhibitor of apoptosis (ML-IAP) is frequent in melanoma. Methods: Based on the conclusion that ML-IAP expression contribu...

A comparative study of estrogen receptor beta expression in melanoma and benign melanocytic lesions

Background: Malignant melanoma is the most aggressive form of skin cancer. In contrast to other tumors, the role of estrogen in the initiation and progression of melanoma remains unclear. The aim of this study was to evaluate estrogen receptor beta protein expression in human melanoma tissues and in the benign melanocytic lesions. Method: Twenty-one patients, 11 with cutaneous melanoma and 10 w...

Calcyclin binding protein and Siah-1 interacting protein in Alzheimer's disease pathology: neuronal localization and possible function.

The calcyclin binding protein and Siah-1 interacting protein (CacyBP/SIP) protein was shown to play a role in the organization of microtubules. In this work we have examined the neuronal distribution and possible function of CacyBP/SIP in cytoskeletal pathophysiology. We have used brain tissue from Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients and from transgenic mice modeling 2 different pathologies chara...

Expression of calcyclin in human melanoma cell lines correlates with metastatic behavior in nude mice.

Since our aim was to isolate and identify new progression markers of human cutaneous melanoma, we applied the differential hybridization technique, in which we compared the gene expression in two subsequent stages of this progression. Tumors in nude mice arising after transplantation and serial passage in vivo of either the horizontally and early vertically growing part or the advanced vertical...

Calcium-regulated interaction of Sgt1 with S100A6 (calcyclin) and other S100 proteins.

S100A6 (calcyclin), a small calcium-binding protein from the S100 family, interacts with several target proteins in a calcium-regulated manner. One target is Calcyclin-Binding Protein/Siah-1-Interacting Protein (CacyBP/SIP), a component of a novel pathway of beta-catenin ubiquitination. A recently discovered yeast homolog of CacyBP/SIP, Sgt1, associates with Skp1 and regulates its function in t...
